Japa Rugs was founded in 2024 in Berlin by Jacqueline and Pau, a creative couple originally from Barcelona. What started as a shared passion for design, color, and craftsmanship turned into a bold project: creating rugs and tapestriesthat bring joy, personality, and warmth into any space.
Inspired by the bold and playful aesthetics of the 1970s, we design and craft each piece by hand, turning our studio into a place where color and creativity come to life.
Our Story
When we moved to Berlin, we found ourselves surrounded by a vibrant and diverse creative scene. But something was missing — the warmth, brightness, and color of our Mediterranean roots.
That’s when we started making rugs and tapestries — not just any pieces, but designs that reflect who we are: expressive, nostalgic, full of life. That’s how Japa Rugs was born — a mix of vintage soul, contemporary design, and honest handmade work.
Made by us, start to finish
Every Japa piece — rug or tapestry — is designed and handcrafted entirely by us. No outsourcing, no mass production, no shortcuts. This hands-on approach lets us infuse each creation with care, intention, and personality.
